I.     Pantone’s Color of the Year

Each year, Pantone selects a Color of the Year.  According to Pantone’s website, the Color of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design, reflecting the Pantone Color Institute’s year-round work doing the same for designers and brands.  It goes on to state that “As individuals around the world become more fascinated with color and realize its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use color to inspire and influence.”

II.     Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year: Greenery

For 2017, Pantone has chosen Greenery as its Color of the Year because it is “nature’s neutral”.  It is a versatile “trans-seasonal” shade that lends itself to many color combinations.

Pantone states it best when it declares that “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

III.     Greenery On The Runway

Over the past several seasons, greenery has made appearances all over the “Big 4” runways of New York, London, Milan, and Paris.  I’ve gathered some examples of the color making its appearance with several major designers.
