Happy International Women’s Day!

Amelia Earhart Quote

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, we celebrate International Women’s Day.  To commemorate this day, I have decided to put together several collections of outfits for the working woman.

With more women in the workforce than ever before, we have to look our best, not only to portray an image of success, but to be that successful image as well.  All you need are a few key pieces in your wardrobe to have a complete working woman’s closet to wake up to every morning.  I’ve narrowed it down to six basics that will give your wardrobe a much needed boost (if you don’t already have them) and if you do, I’ve demonstrated different ways to wear each.  Here are my favorites.

This season was all about the bucket bag!  For the on-the-go professional, this is a perfect accessory to store everything from umbrellas to a pair of flats.  The bucket bag is as practical as it is stylish.  Check out the bags throughout the “Similar Items” list for more variety.

 2.     The Blazer

When it comes to versatility, nothing compares to a classic black blazer.  If there was ever an investment piece worthy of a splurge, this one is it.  It’s so versatile that it can be worn with pants, skirts, or, for a more casual look, jeans!  Be sure that you have this go-to piece in your closet for those morning when you can’t find anything to wear.  It can pull together any outfit.

3.     The Shoe

The key to finding a great pair of pumps is the fit, especially the comfort of the heel height.  Try on a dozen pairs to find what’s right for you.  Then, stick with the same neutral color and material and it will match almost everything in your wardrobe for years to come!

4.    The Skirt

The midi skirt is quite on trend right now, but not so trendy that it will go out of style.  Women have been wearing this style of skirt for generations. It’s just finally now come to the forefront and getting the recognition.  It’s a great skirt for work because it’s comfortable, stylish, and somewhat on the modest side.  That’s why I paired it with this sleeveless blouse.  The rule of thumb is that if you are covered up in one area you can be a bit less modest in another.  Just don’t go crazy (at least for work).

5.     The Top

A properly tailored top looks great with almost everything: a suit, jeans, wide leg trousers, a pencil skirt.  Its appeal is universal.  Invest in several of these tailored tops in different colors and you’ll automatically look well-dressed and expensive.

Every working woman needs a pair of nicely tailored black pants that she can wear any day of the week.  Not only does black have a slimming effect, it is professional and you can pair it with almost any top.
