Eyelashes are very delicate and must be cared for as such. After some research into the best ways to care for them, I have compiled a list of seven tips for caring for your lashes to make them last longer and be stronger.
1. Moisturize!, Moisturize!, Moisturize!
All of us are familiar with moisturizing our faces and bodies, but few of us think to moisturize our eyelashes separately. There are some wonderful benefits to using products like Vaseline or petroleum jelly directly on our eyelashes. For example, direct eyelash moisturizing helps to prevent breakage and helps them grow faster and stronger. This is especially true for dry, brittle eyelashes.
Want to make your own concoction? Try natural oils like argan, castor, or sweet almond oil. Whatever natural oils you choose, you can apply them alone or mix several of them together to make your favorite blend. You can use a thoroughly cleaned mascara wand to apply the formula.
2. Choose a Fortified Mascara
There are lots of mascaras on the market that contain vitamins and minerals that help boost eyelash growth. Why not take advantage of the 2-in-1 bonus?

3. Treat Your Eyelashes to Some Vitamins Via Eyelash Enhancers
If nothing has worked and your eyelashes are still short and/or thin, you may consider using eyelash enhancers. These products contain vitamins and other essential elements that extend the growth phase of the eyelash. These eyelash enhancers comes in a wide array of products in a range of prices. However, a note of caution, only some of these products have been approved by the FDA so do your homework and find the product that best suits you and your needs.

4. Treat Your Lashes with Kindness
Use caution when touching your eyes whether it’s when applying makeup or washing your face. Be careful not to rub your eyes as this could cause breakage. Also, avoid using eyelash curlers too often because they can lead to eyelash breakage and fallout. Yikes!
5. Eat Healthy
Eating good, nutritious food is great for your entire body, even your eyelashes! It’s just another excuse to choose the right foods to eat. If your body doesn’t get the vitamins and minerals that it needs, your eyelashes will grow slower and thinner.
6. No False Eyelashes!
False eyelashes can turn your look dramatic in seconds! However, the application and subsequent removal of them can cause more damage that it’s worth. It’s possible with just the slight wrong application and removal of the false lashes that you will remove some of your own! Not worth it! Save them for the big occasions!
7. Eye Makeup Removal Every Night
Make sure that you remove all eye makeup each night. It is preferable that you use an eye makeup remover that is light and alcohol-free to avoid drying out your lashes. Use a soft, cotton pad and sweep in one direction to remove eye makeup.
These are some great tips! I never think about moisturizing my lashes and Vaseline is definitely an easy way to do it!
Thanks Lisa! I’m glad that you found them helpful! xo
I had no idea you could moisturize your lashes with Vaseline. I have done false lashes but only a couple times. The expensive ones last long but I’m not good at applying the cheap ones.

False lashes are tricky and I’m not very good at them. Thankfully, I have pretty thick lashes that are sufficient for everyday. I hope they stay that way 😉 I’m glad that you enjoyed the post! xo
I wear fake lashes every time I put makeup on and so far haven’t had any issues with my lashes. I think if someone can’t apply it properly that’s when it’ll cause damage.
Definitely! Thank you for reading my post and your insights that line up with my research. xo
I didn’t know about #1. I actually needed these tips. Mine have been falling a lot lately. Will try your tips now 🙂
