Fall/Winter 2017-18: From Runway to Reality

With the Spring 2018 runway shows in full swing, I thought it would be fun to examine the Fall/Winter 2017-18 collections from last February’s runways so that we can all get an idea of what we may want to add to our wardrobes right now.  The Fall/Winter 2017-18 runways brought exciting new looks and revived old ones.  In fact, they did a little of both in many cases.  I have composed a list of twelve trends that I saw on the Fall/Winter runways that will be on point this season.  From New York to London to Milan to Paris, I have examined every major runway in search of common trends.  The only trend that I wish I had included is the color yellow which seems to have hit big this Fall; otherwise, I am satisfied with my selections.  I hope that you are able to grow your wardrobes this Fall and add some fabulous pieces!  Enjoy!

Disco

The ’70s style is making a comeback this fall!  I noticed it throughout the runways in all four fashion capital cities.  It’s quite a fun look!

Animal Print

Some designers incorporate some animal print into their collections, but for this Fall/Winter season, the animal print trend is much more ubiquitous.  As you can see from the above photos, the animal print overwhelms the outfit in a very flattering way.  It’s a perfect fall look!

Capes

Many fashion bloggers, influencers, and fashionistas are mixed on capes,  Personally, I love them.  My birthday dress this year was a beautiful caped dress by Calvin Klein.  I think this look shows power.  Several designers decided to go with the trend and I’m glad that they did!

Florals

Florals are fitting for spring, but they’re also wonderful for fall as well.  The above photos show how florals can mesh nicely into a fall/winter wardrobe.

Fringe

Fringe is one of the biggest trends of the season!  Seen in all major fashion capitals, everyone is or will be wearing fringe.

Leather

The one bare shoulder look is very sexy and is a trend that isn’t going away!  So buy more of this trend and enjoy showing your décolletage in the colder months.

Pretty in Pink

I must admit that I love pink.  It’s my favorite color.  That is probably why I was drawn to the color during the runway shows.  Nevertheless, several fashion houses showed pink in their collections so it’s important to note that pink will most likely be a trend this upcoming season.

Ruffles

Ruffles seem to be everywhere these days.  They are very feminine and they are quite beautiful.  This is a trend that will last through several seasons because its flattering and holds it shape.

Shearling

Shearling is perfect for fall because it’s warm and cozy.  Plus, many designers have chosen to make a fashion statement with it as seen above.  It’s the perfect accent to any coat or jacket.  It’s also a beautiful trend for fall and winter!
