Excellence

I had a professor in college who constantly emphasized the importance of excellence.  He said that doing your best in all that you do was the most important thing that you could give to your life.  In return, you reap self-respect and a whole host of other admirable qualities.  I have found five quotes that I believe point to excellence.

Good people strengthen themselves endlessly. – Confucius

The hardest challenge is to be yourself in a world where everyone is trying to make you be somebody else. – E. E. Cummings

You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with. – Wayne Dyer

Insist on yourself. Never imitate.  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the first quote, I believe Confucius was talking about excellence.  Strengthening ourselves endlessly will lead to excellence.

E.E. Cummings was correct when he observed that the world is constantly trying to change us, to make us into somebody us.  If we stay ourselves despite this challenge, we have achieved excellence.

The third quote is a great one because being comfortable being alone is essential to growth and becoming excellent.

Fourth, being true to yourself is achieving excellence wholeheartedly.

Lastly, listening to yourself and how you feel will gain you more excellence than any other avenue.

Be excellent!
