Ever wonder how to get great looking hair with just a few tips to keep in mind? I’ve consulted expert stylists and compiled these fourteen tips to keep your hair healthy and shiny all year long! These easy-to-follow guideline make getting and keeping your hair healthy a snap. The last two tips are mine so enjoy!
1. Nix Roots
Camouflage roots by zigzagging your part rather than making it straight.
2. Communicate with your Stylist
Be direct when telling your stylist what you want. Bring in photos from magazines or Pinterest.
3. Brush Hair from Roots to Ends
Brush hair from roots to ends nightly. This distributes natural oils throughout the hair and gives hair and healthy sheen.
4. Dye It Natural
If you are doing your color yourself, don’t make too drastic of a change. Stay within one or two shades of your natural color.
5. Comb It Out
Comb wet hair like the pros: hold a handful at a time and work from center to ends, then scalp to center.
6. Watch Your Back
Never let a stylist interfere with the natural hairline on the neck. The hair there is cowlicklike and will stick out when it grows.
7. Let Your Hair Shine
Always rinse out conditioner (which should go on hair ends) with cold water to seal the cuticle and promote shine.
8. Protect Against Sun Damage
Protect hair from sun damage with a scarf or hat.
9. Sleep on Silk or Satin
Keep a blowout lasting days longer by sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase.
10. Change Your Part
Change your part to boost body and volume.
11. Shake Off Hat Hair
To fix hat-head, bend over and shake your head a few times. Then, run your fingers through your hair to add volume. For even more body, mist a natural-bristle brush with hair spray, bend over and brush lightly from underneath.
12. Avoid Frizz
Use only a wide tooth comb, especially when hair is dry.
13. Choose Shampoo Carefully
If you color your hair, look for sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners which don’t contain harsh detergents.
14. Get Rid of Flyaways
To stop flyaway hair, spray Static Guard on your comb or brush. Or smooth an anti-static dryer sheet along your head.
Beth’s Helpful Tips
I have a couple of things that keep my hair shiny and healthy that I want to share. I have found these two things to be real game-changers in the health of my hair.
Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
Argan oil is great for the hair. It is proven to make hair softer, silkier and shinier. It is the ideal hair conditioner, and it can even help to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. Since I’ve been using the above shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner, my hair has been stronger and shinier.
Tangle Teezer
The Tangle Teezer changed the way that I combed my hair after washing and conditioning it. It truly is revolutionary despite being quite simple. The bristles comb away any tangles quite gently and save your hair from unnecessary breakage that is frequently caused when using a comb or brush on wet hair.
Great tips! You have beautiful hair. I am thinking about growing my hair out, and I need to do better at caring for it when it’s long.
Thank you so much! Growing you hair time and effort. Hopefully, these tips will help in your efforts 🙂 xo
