Halloween is creeping up on us and, instead of leaving all of your costume preparations for the last minute when you’re forced to come up with a simple, boring look, it’s high time to start assembling an incredible Halloween-worthy costume. And what better place to look for spooky sartorial inspiration than the elaborate costumes of our favorite celebrities. Here, we look back at some of the best celebrity costumes from last year, in order to help inspire your Halloween costume this October.

Heidi Klum as the werewolf from Michael Jackson’s Thriller

It wouldn’t be right to start the list off with anyone other than the queen of Halloween herself, Heidi Klum. Heidi is known for her love of this festive holiday and the effort she puts into throwing the most ornate Halloween parties, as well as creating the most intricate costumes that never fail to amaze us. Last year, she was unrecognizable in her incredible werewolf costume inspired by the famous music video for Michael Jackson’s Thriller. While it may seem like a look that’s impossible to recreate without a team of experts at your side, you don’t have to go all out. A simple pair of mom jeans and a varsity jacket will do the trick. With a bit of body paint, some long fake nails and a pair of fun crazy contacts, you can look just as spooky as Heidi this Halloween.

Imaan Hammam as Slash

Imaan was absolutely stunning last Halloween wearing the iconic ‘80s look of this famous guitarist, and you can easily recreate this costume too. Like Imaam, you can go for a pair of black leather trousers, or any black skinny jeans you might have in your closet already, and pair them with a leather vest over a basic white camisole tied at the waist. Choose a pair of black high top Converse shoes and a staple black top hat on top of beautiful luscious curls. Opt for details such as statement-making rings and a pair of black aviator sunglasses and you will truly rock this Halloween.

Cardi B as Cruella de Vil

If you wanted to go with a more elegant costume this year, take inspiration from Cardi’s incredible Cruella de Vil outfit. Cardi wore a sophisticated black jumpsuit paired with an oversized faux fur black and white cover-up. She opted for red evening gloves and a staple cigarette holder, but the bold overdone makeup and the iconic black and white wig truly make this a classic Cruella de Vil look.

Demi Lovato as Selena Quintanilla

Demi paid homage to the famous Mexican singer by choosing one of Selena’s most well-known performance outfits as her Halloween look last year. She went for a shimmery burgundy jumpsuit with flared legs and paired it with striking platform heels. Demi finished the look with Selena’s signature details, such as big hoop earrings and bold makeup, as well as a wig depicting her famous bangs. Being a simple, one-piece outfit, this look might be a great option for any last minute Halloween costume.

Shanina Shaik as a punk rocker

Shanina truly stunned last year with her sultry Halloween costume. With a revealing fishnet top paired with an abundance of leather, she truly embodied the bold punk rock spirit. If you are brave enough, you can choose to recreate this costume from head to toe from items you most likely already have in your closet. If not, you can easily opt for a ripped crop top and a pair of ripped jeans to capture the spirit of this era. But don’t forget to include a leather biker jacket in the look, along with some fishnet gloves or fishnet leggings. Top the look off with a leather choker and bold, dark makeup and your attractive Halloween costume is complete.

Karlie Kloss as Marilyn Monroe

Karlie looked beautiful as this iconic Hollywood actress and this might be the best option yet, because this costume is quite possibly the easiest one to recreate. All you need is a flowy white halter top dress and a pair of minimalistic sandals. Don’t forget to finish the look off with charming retro curls and a bright, bold red lipstick, and a tiny beauty mark dotted on the cheek.
