A few years ago when I began this fashion blog, I studied many of the designers from New York Fashion Week. One designer stood out to me as exceptional and that was Zang Toi. I adored his use of color, the lines and cuts on his designs, and the way the fabric moved with the models. It was classic and quite beautiful. I immediately followed his collections each season. To my delight (and surprise) that following September, I received an invitation from Zang Toi to attend his show! I had never been to New York City so the combination of visiting the city that’s the center of the universe on top of attending NYFW, was a dream come true!
On March 29th, I attended a runway show and cocktail party with world-renowned designer Zang Toi presenting his Spring 2019 collection titled “Vive Le Yves”. The festivities took place at the Historic Town Hall in Brunswick, GA. It was presented by the St. Simons Island boutique Evelyne Talman and The Coastal Symphony of Georgia. The collection was originally shown last fall during New York Fashion Week making this its encore presentation.

Zang Toi’s Spring 2019 Collection: “Vive Le Yves”
This collection, titled “Vive Le Yves”, was designed by Zang Toi as a tribute to the late designer Yves Saint Laurent.
At NYFW, Toi said, “This Collection is a very personal, very special one. It’s a fan letter to my favorite designer, the late Yves Saint Laurent. I traveled to Marrakech, Morocco to visit the Saint Laurent Museum for inspiration. I was always inspired by his works and this season I decided to pay tribute to the Master himself.”
NYC Designer Zang Toi
I finally got to meet, in person, Zang Toi after several years of communicating via social media. It was so nice to meet the man behind the brilliant designs!
How exciting to have been invited (and attended) his show! Never heard of this designer before, but love his use of color. Thanks for sharing, especially the “Backstage before the show” pics.
Thank you so much, Jean!
