Let me introduce two extraordinary ladies, Kelli and Christina, who host their own YouTube Channel called “Mommies, Makeup & Moscato”.  These ladies are stay-at-home moms and best friends who devote a portion of their time to inform you of the latest fashion and beauty trends!  I’ve been a fan of their channel for quite some time and was honored to interview them.  Check out their interview below!

Kelli and Christina

  1. Hi Kelli & Christina! Please describe your YouTube Channel ‘Mommies, Makeup & Moscato’ and what your motivations were for starting such an awesome endeavor.

After being stay at home moms for 13 years we were looking for a creative outlet that would still give us some  with  our schedules. As avid YouTube watchers we noticed there wasn’t a lot of variety in the fashion category for women in our age group. Most of the content was focused on women of a younger generation all with similar body types. We felt that there were more women like us out there who would enjoy seeing mature moms with different body types sharing their real life fashion tips and tricks.

  1. What type of person is your YouTube Channel geared to reach? Who is your ideal audience?  Who would you like to help with your videos and advice?

Our channel is geared toward women over 30, who enjoy fashion that is wearable, age appropriate and budget friendly. Our goal is to help women look and feel their best no matter what their age or size.Kelli

  1. What other YouTube Channels and/or vbloggers inspire you?

Some of our favorite Youtubers are Shea Whitney, LuxMommy, and Busbee Style.

  1. How do you balance life and your YouTube Channel?

Balancing Youtube with our family lives has been fairly easy for us since we are able to set aside 2 days a week for filming . Since there are two of us we are also able to split the work load of editing and creating content which is a big advantage for us.

Christina

  1. What are some of your favorite videos that you have filmed?

One of our favorite videos was the Jeans Trends for 2020 video we recently did because we really enjoyed going into the store together and seeing how the different jean trends fit our body types.

Another favorite video was the 2020 Hottest Trends because we enjoyed researching what was going to be popular and which ones would be the most wearable. We always have a great time together because we laugh so much and really enjoy what we do. If we don’t enjoy making a video then we know our viewers probably won’t enjoy watching it so we only create content we are truly inspired to make.

     6. What are your goals/dreams/ambitions for your YouTube Channel and yourselves?

Our goal is to continue to grow and to reach more women. Our dream would be to work with brands to represent mature women and moms in fashion.

  1. Who is your favorite style icon?

Kelli:   I’ve always looked to Reese Witherspoon for fashion inspiration not only because I feel like we have a somewhat similar body type but I also love her feminine, girly style.

Kelli

Christina: It is very hard for me to narrow it down to one person but I like Meghan Markle’s street style. She has a casual and effortless style yet is still polished and classy looking.

Christina

  1. What is the best piece of advice that you have even been given?

Kelli:  The best fashion advice I ever received was to focus on your strengths. If you have great shoulders, wear a sleeveless top to show them off. If you have great legs where dresses and shorts and put the focus on them. Don’t just wear what looks good on the mannequin. Wear what flatters you.

Kelli

Christina: Don’t wait until you are the “perfect” size to start dressing your body. It may take you a year or longer to get down to your ideal weight and telling yourself you’re not going to invest in your wardrobe until you are the “perfect” size is a terrible message. You are worthy now, no matter what your size is.

Christina

  1. How would you best describe your style?

Kelli: My style has really changed and evolved in the past few years doing Youtube. We have the advantage of seeing ourselves on video and pictures in outfits so it really helps you realize what works for you and what doesn’t.  I feel like I’m much more drawn to more feminine styles and soft colors as I get older. I think they just suit my skintone and hair coloring and flatter me best.  I love mixing soft florals and feminine pieces with edgier items like distressed denim.

Kelli

Christina: I would describe my style as classic with a touch of trend. I like using basic staple pieces in my outfits but I always add one element that is a trend for the season. It may be a color, print, pattern, or style that is incorporated to add interest but not overwhelm my outfit.

Christina

  1. What inspires both of you to develop ideas for videos for your YouTube Channel?

Our video ideas are inspired from several sources, some are requests we receive from our subscribers, others are from doing our research on what viewers are interested in watching and some are spurred from ideas we get from talking to each other about what fashion we are interested in.

  1. What are your backgrounds?

Kelli: I am a rare native Floridian. I was born and raised in South Florida and live less than 10 minutes from my childhood home.

Kelli

Christina: I grew up as an Army brat for 15 years. So I grew up moving a lot when I was a kid. My mother is South Korean.

  1. Since starting your YouTube Channel, what have been some of your greatest achievements?

Early on our most unexpected achievement was receiving a sponsorship from Vincero Watches. We were really excited to work with Vincero because we had watched some of our favorite Youtubers collaborate with them. Since then we are most proud of a video reaching over 60K views and having our channel reach over 14K subscribers.

Kelli

  1. What are your future plans for your YouTube Channel?

We would love to continue making fashion content, growing our subscribers, and eventually branching out to do more beauty and lifestyle content in the future.

  1. What advice would you give up-and-coming YouTubers who are just starting out?

You have to make sure you really love what you are doing because it is a lot of work and commitment. There is so much involved with creating your content, editing and getting it out there for viewers to see. We were 2 stay at home moms with basically zero knowledge of social media or editing skills and we are learning everything as we go. It takes a lot of patience and perseverance, but it is also very rewarding to put out a video and get so much positive feedback from our viewers.

Christina
