Winter is finally here, which means we can expect a surge in cold weather. This time of year is often filled with joy and happiness as we spend time reconnecting with loved ones. As a result, you’ll want to make sure you’re looking and feeling your best to fully enjoy the holidays.
Unfortunately, many people suffer from irritated lips because of the cold and dry air. Don’t fret though! There are many natural remedies you can make to keep your lips fresh and hydrated. Continue reading for three DIY lip masks you can make this winter season.
1. Lavender Lip Mask
This lip mask recipe is great for moisturizing and exfoliating cracked lips. Lavender oil contains ingredients that heal tissue and ease inflammation. You’ll also use honey, which helps remove lingering dead skin on your lips. Likewise, honey can also prevent a lip infection from ruining your festivities.
The following are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 6 drops of essential lavender oil
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Follow these steps once you have your ingredients:
- Combine the honey and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Add the lavender oil and mix it together.
- Apply the mask onto your lips in circles for around 2 minutes.
- Rinse the mask off with warm water.
- Put on a hydrating lip balm afterward for a full moisturizing effect.
2. Avocado Lip Mask
It’s time to put the avocado toast on pause, and save an avocado for a lip mask! Since avocado is rich in Vitamin C and E, it’s often a common ingredient in beauty masks. These vitamins, along with antioxidants, protect your lips from damage and produce collagen. This mask is great for moisturizing and hydrating your lips this winter.
The following are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 2 teaspoons of ripe, mashed avocado
Follow these steps once you have your ingredients:
- Mash up two teaspoons of avocado into a bowl.
- Add honey into the bowl and mix it in with the avocado.
- Put the lip mask on and rinse it off with warm water after 20 minutes.
3. Kiwi and Berry Lip Mask
This tropical blend will bring you back to warm and sunny vacations from the summer. Both berries and kiwis contain high levels of Vitamin C. The Vitamin C in berries and kiwis moisturize your lips and increase its elasticity. You’ll also use olive oil and sugar in this DIY mixture. Both ingredients work together to leave a soothing feel on your lips.
The following are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 strawberry
- ½ of a kiwi
- 6 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Follow these steps once you have your ingredients:
- Put both the strawberry and the kiwi in a blender and run it until you have a smooth consistency.
- Mix the sugar and olive oil in a bowl.
- Add your fruit blend to the bowl and mix well with the sugar and olive oil.
- Rub the mask on your lips in circles.
- After a minute or two, rinse the mask off with warm water.
