Alexia María is a luxury eveningwear collection founded by Mexican designer Alexia María Esquer in 2014. Inspired by the golden age of film and fashion, Alexia María romanticizes a classic era with the purpose of reigniting the art of dressing up. Alexia María’s designs reflect a bespoke approach to tailoring, lending a modern perspective to a timelessly feminine aesthetic.
Alexia María believes that beauty begins with simplicity and precision in tailoring, and that craftsmanship equates to artistry, which elevates every silhouette. The goal is to provide women with classic, yet modern functional pieces that will outlast any trend. Today, Alexia María operates predominantly as a made-to-order brand, allowing the clientele to experience a truly intimate shopping experience.
Alexia María’s designs are crafted in-house at the Southern California atelier by a passionate team of seamstresses. Alexia personally oversees the construction and production of looks in order to ensure the utmost attention to detail. The highest quality fabrics are carefully selected to create the timeless and classically feminine collections. The garments are made from silk faille, silk and wool, and organza, which are sourced from around the world. No detail is overlooked in the design. There are more than 40 different styles, and all of the pieces are available in over 8 different colorways.
The Signature Collection is classic and seasonless, and includes the most emblematic and staple pieces. From monochromatic gowns to cocktail dresses, to structured skirts and cape tops, a range of separates can elevate or transition a single look. These can be worn for a special occasion or for a bridal event. The Convertible Collection is modern and versatile, and revolves around the brand’s quintessential convertible overskirt. Conceived as non-traditional alternative evening wear, the convertible skirt is detachable and entirely transitional. Every look within the collection is crafted as a set, and intended to be worn with or without the convertible skirt. Concepted for special events, convertible skirts are paired with a range of silhouettes. Whether it reveals a classically fitted gown, a festive cocktail mini dress, or a sleek jumpsuit– the convertible collection is purposefully practical with a couture disposition.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born and raised in Mexico, Alexia María’s love for fashion began at an early age. Inspired by the artistic and creative women in her family, especially her grandmother who was a painter, she spent much of her childhood in her atelier where she learned the design process, including sewing, and the importance of detailed craftsmanship. From entertaining and decorating a tablescape to creating original costumes and wedding dresses, the passion for design had been passed down to Alexia María through the generations.
Enamored with haute couture and the original fashion icons of the 1950s, such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Jackie Kennedy, yet unable to find a brand that featured structured silhouettes and a carefully tailored look– Alexia María began designing and wearing her own creations. Her family and friends followed suit, asking her to make them gowns for special occasions, and she soon outgrew her home studio. Thus, Alexia María launched her namesake brand and flagship boutique in La Jolla, California in 2014 where she could meet and greet her customers. A Madison Avenue boutique in the Upper East Side of Manhattan followed in 2018. Today, Alexia María oversees the creation and design of every made-to order piece in her family owned and operated luxury brand. Her San Diego atelier is filled with women craftsman whose commitment to quality is seen in each handmade collection.
Alexia María has remained passionate in her original mission to design classic, sophisticated, timeless, and elegant eveningwear and “reignite the art of dressing up.” Perfect for a black tie event, a wedding, or simply an evening out on the town, Alexia María looks forward to dressing women of all ages for years to come.
