Dreaming about your first yacht charter but wondering what to wear, how to behave and what to do onboard? A little yacht etiquette knowledge can help everyone feel comfortable and confident.
Good onboard etiquette begins with communication, respect and flexibility. Your crew will gladly answer questions, from navigating a formal place setting to understanding onboard safety. No one expects first-time guests to know everything; we simply want you to feel at ease while respecting the yacht and those aboard.
One important rule: shoes generally stay off the yacht. Wear whatever you love ashore, but onboard, barefoot is best. Pedicures over platforms every time!
Tell the crew what you genuinely enjoy. Want water toys and music pumping? Wonderful. Prefer an incredible meal followed by a quiet afternoon? Equally wonderful. The more we understand your preferences, the more personalized your experience can be.
Keeping your plans flexible is important too. Remember, Mother Nature may change the itinerary. Trust your captain and crew and embrace Plan B. It may become your favorite memory.
Finally, the yacht is your home for the week, but it is also where the crew lives and works. Respect the space, observe boundaries and avoid entering crew areas.
Ultimately, thoughtful etiquette is about helping everyone relax, connect and enjoy an extraordinary experience together.
